The Fairy Tree
I recently re -read an old book I had from the seventies describing all manner of goblins and beasties found in the English countryside. One was a tree that roamed the forest at night, only to return to sedentary status at daybreak. I think this painting was definitely influenced by my old book. “ Faeries”, by Brian Froud. When I came across this tree/stump last Fall in Muir Woods I was immediately struck by what a person it was! I’m pretty sure it goes out and about at times.
