"Reflections on the Lake"
It's a sultry Florida afternoon, silent except for the occasional frog or the splash of a turtle. This is Lake Maggiore, a treasure of wildlife and reflections on still water. Outside of Sarasota, near the western shore, it's a hidden nature preserve, with winding wooden walkways that take you straight out into the sawgrass and over the water. In this painting, the sky only exists as a reflection, something Monet did all the time.
