"Snorkeling in Maui"
Once you've been under the ocean in Hawaii you never forget what's there...always, all the time, as we walk around up above. There's a whole world going on down there. Why aren't there more underwater paintings? I wondered that as I painted this scene; the fish like birds, and the coral the landscape. The yellow Tang and the turquoise water drew me right in. I tried to capture the bubbles, the light, and the swoosh of the fish swimming right past your nose, but always darting away at the very last second.
